My Mother is an Artist
Lajuana Lampkins is a staple of Chicago's nightlife, beloved by many for her raunchy art and gregarious spirit.
Grieving her son Prince, who was killed by police in 2010, she seeks relief from increasingly chaotic sources, until her relationship with her surviving son—and competing artist—Sir Gerald reaches a breaking point.
Set against the backdrop of an unrelenting Chicago, My Mother is an Artist is an honest and compassionate portrait of a family working to find justice and ultimately heal through art.
